A summer makeup routine is essential for some students to have to protect against the sun or even just to enhance their natural beauty.
Some students may not know where to start with their routine, but others have their staples and go-to products.
“Go as natural as you can,” said sophomore environmental science and policy major Zenia Kaovasia. She likes to use Australian Gold tinted face sunscreen lotion, a tinted sunscreen and mixes that in with her face moisturizer after washing her face in the morning.
Sophomore government and politics major Jordan Snarski also recommends using products with SPF “for extra protection from the sun.”
After using her tinted SPF, Kaovasia suggests putting on a little mascara or curling your eyelashes for a natural look.
For mascara, Kaovasia recommends the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, and junior family science major Alice Kelly endorses any waterproof mascara for the summer. Waterproof can be helpful in the summer when having a beach or pool day.
Some of the best waterproof mascaras are the MAC MacStack Waterproof Mascara, Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Sky High Waterproof Mascara and Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara, according to Allure.
Kelly also enjoys a natural makeup look for the summer and said she wears a lot less makeup in the summer compared to the winter.
“It’s usually only mascara and the occasional concealer,” she said.
Creating a summer makeup routine can be very simple when sticking to a natural look, or be as elaborate as one wants it to be. Using products that contain SPF can also be helpful in achieving a summer makeup routine while staying protected from the sun.
“Add some sunscreen where you can. Enjoy your natural beauty,” said Kelly.
