Welcome to The Campus Trainer!
My name is Emma Schmalz, and I am honored to be the editor-in-chief of this University of Maryland student-run publication, focusing on everything from music and art to campus life to fashion. Our writers, editors, photographers, and social media team are some of the most talented and dedicated journalists and students on campus, and are always working hard to provide UMD with that is meaningful, exciting, and, most of all, innovative.
The Campus Trainer is a place where many UMD students make their first steps as journalists, and we are grateful to be part of each student’s journey towards their future. Emma Schmalz is a senior broadcast journalism major with a focus in film & media studies. Growing up right outside of New York City her whole life, Schmalz has always loved the hustle and bustle of city life and loves to spend time reporting in the D.C. area. This summer she interned with abc 7's WJLA news station in Arlington, Va., where she worked as a digital news desk intern. She shadowed reporters, conducted interviews that aired live on TV, wrote stories for their website, and so much more. In her free time, she enjoys reading, journaling, listening to the Emergency Intercom podcast, and being with her friends and family.

Abby Jablonski is a junior double majoring in journalism and public policy. She is originally from Michigan, but loves being in the DMV. She hopes to pursue a career in political reporting after college. Abby loves traveling, reading, spending time outside and going to brunch.

Ashley Oiler is a junior journalism major from Chicago, Illinois. Along with being the Love and Life Editor for the Campus Trainer, Ashley is also a swim instructor, a vice president for the UMD Club Swim Team, and is part of the Delta Gamma Sorority on campus. Hannah Stein is a sophomore journalism major. In her free time she enjoys
running, reading, and cooking. After college, Hannah plans to attend culinary
school and then law school. Her passion for fitness and wellness started

Amanda Sinofsky is a sophomore journalism and English major with a media studies focus from Marlton, New Jersey. She is a national writer with Spoon University and a copy editor for The Diamondback and Stories Beneath the Shell. Emma Tufo is a senior journalism major from Long Island, New York. This summer, she interned at the New York Post as an entertainment intern, where she wrote articles for the website, interviewed celebrities, shadowed experienced reporters, and more. Tufo loves everything about New York City but has also fallen in love with the DMV since coming to Maryland. She loves everything related to pop culture and enjoys reading, watching television shows and spending time with friends in her free time.
