With changing seasons comes changing makeup routines, and we’ve got a few recommendations for you on how to stay fresh and glowy through rain or shine - or snow.
The time-saver: Cicapair™ Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 by Dr. Jart+ This color-correcting moisturizer is the perfect product for snatching your skin when you’re in a rush to class. While the cream is visibly green before use, it perfectly matches your skin tone the moment you apply it, getting rid of practically all redness. This is perfect for when your skin needs a boost, but you don’t have the time or energy to apply moisturizer, primer and foundation or concealer before you rush off to discussion. I must admit - it is on the pricier side. A full 1.7 oz container retails for $52 at Sephora. However, a smaller version is available: 0.5 oz for $21, and being that I’m on probably my third or fourth full container of this magical substance, I can attest that it is worth it.
Get some color back combo: Hoola Bronzer and Liquid Lip Blush & Cheek Tint by Benefit Cosmetics This bronzer and blush combo has been a staple of mine since I was in the seventh grade. These two products keep my pale skin looking fresh during the winter. The Hoola Bronzer, which retails for $35 at Sephora (mini size available for $18), comes in four different shades and gives your face a natural, tanned look. I like to apply it under my cheekbones and along the top and sides of my forehead. The “Benetint” lip and cheek product, which retails for $21 at Sephora (value size available for $33), comes in five different shades, ranging from more orange-red shades (I recommend these for summer) to more mauve and berry tones, perfect for popping a hint of color onto your face that will brighten you up through the harsher natural lighting of winter.
The cheap steal: Falsies Lash Lift Volumizing and Lengthening Mascara by Maybelline I am not lying when I say this is the best mascara I have ever used, and for a lovely, low price ($9.99 at Target). The thick wand and formula make for easy application and thick, even lashes. There is also a waterproof version, which I utilize during rain or snow. The name is no lie - I have actually been asked if I was wearing false lashes. If drama is your thing, or if you just have time for one makeup move for the day, this mascara is it.
Outside opinion: Soft Pinch Liquid Blush by Rare Beauty This product recommendation came from junior kinesiology major Nora Mirarabshahi. Mirarabshahi expressed her love for the gorgeous shades and added, “I’ve found that I’ve only had to put a small drop on each cheek and it lasts a very long time.” This liquid blush retails for $23 at Sephora and offers seven radiant finish shades and four matte finish shades. Another fabulous way to add some color to your cold girl makeup look.
Outside opinion: D-Bronzi™ Anti-Pollution Bronzing Drops with Peptides by Drunk Elephant Bethany Sugg, a sophomore cell biology and genetics major, recommends this bronzing serum as her current go-to product. She shared, “I like them because it blends in with my moisturizer and brings a nice color to my face, especially because I have a fair complexion.” Drunk Elephant claims this serum protects against environmental factors like polluted air while tanning your skin at the same time. It retails for $36 at Sephora.
These products would all serve as key essentials in your makeup bag this season, and many of them can be worn in various ways. There is no problem embracing the pale, grey tones of winter, but when in need of some excitement, this makeup is the way to go.
