Over the course of spring break, I spent my time in Florida with my family where we either went out to have fun, or we relaxed by the poolside. As I was listening to music during my trip, I added each song to a playlist and titled it “spring break songs.”
There are a mix of genres but the overall vibe was either very chill music or very upbeat music, embodying the mood of spring fever. A few of the genres include indie, K-pop, R&B, and American pop. There are a total of 117 songs as I listened to hours of music each day I was in Florida.
On top of the songs I chose, I reached out to a few University of Maryland students and asked for a song they listened to over spring break.
“‘Lookaround’ by Edgehill. It’s a chill indie song that I would listen to while I took car rides with the windows down in my hometown,” said sophomore hearing and speech major Paige McGinnis.
“‘All of the Girls You Loved Before’ by Taylor Swift. I am the world’s biggest Swiftie and Taylor dropped this during spring break which means of course it was on repeat. This song has very nice vocals and I would listen to this in my room singing along to each word,” said sophomore business major Marta Janerio.
“‘Style’ by Taylor Swift. I listened to this while driving to Fort Lauderdale with my friends and we all sang along happily. The song just hit the spot while listening to it on our drive,” said sophomore government and politics major Declan Kirby.
