It seems skinny jeans have been officially deemed out of style. All over TikTok and Instagram, people have been sporting jeans in a much looser, more relaxed silhouette. These jeans are the trend right now, but where can you find them? Here’s a roundup of some of the trendiest jeans at the moment.
Zara’s wide leg ripped jeans: Lately, TikTok has been flooded with people buying and recommending Zara’s jeans. The retailer has jeans of all cuts and styles, but their wide leg ripped jeans have become especially popular. High-waisted, baggy and distressed, these jeans are perfect for this season’s trends.
Abercrombie & Fitch’s ‘90s Ultra High Rise Straight Jeans: Another popular recommendation from TikTok: Abercrombie & Fitch’s ‘90s Ultra High Rise Straight Jeans. These are great for anyone that wants a pair of jeans that are relaxed, but still hug your body. These jeans are the brand’s highest rise and are made with “built-in-stretch” material for extra comfort. While they are mostly sold out at the moment, they are offered in five different washes, with different levels of distressing.
Urban Outfitters’ BDG Loose Straight Jean: Remember, wearing white after Labor Day is allowed! These ivory jeans from Urban Outfitters are a switch-up from the classic blue jean. The relaxed fit, coupled with slight distressing and some stand out stitchwork, make these jeans a unique look. They also have plenty of pockets!
Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans: Levi’s are a classic, but these types of jeans are a new look from the brand. The extra high-rise waistline defines your waist, and the straight, wide-leg cut you a comfortable wear. While these jeans fit into the trendy, vintage look, they are slightly cropped, offering a slight twist on the current looks. Levi’s also has these jeans in six different washes, so there is something for everyone.
PacSun’s Faded Black Ripped Mom Jeans: Mom jeans are still a staple. These jeans from PacSun are another great pair to suit this season’s trends. The mom fit is super comfortable and the black, distressed wash gives a slightly edgy look at the same time.
Besides these recommendations, University of Maryland students also have a variety of go-to jeans for this season. Ruth John, a freshman psychology major, said her favorite pair of jeans are the ripped light wash mom jeans from Garage. She likes these because they are flattering and fit her pretty well, unlike other jeans that can be too loose. John thinks they are great for this season’s trends because they are mom jeans and have some distressing.
Sophomore marketing and operations management and business analytics major Aaliya Husain recommended Zara’s mom jeans. “They are super comfy and durable and can go with any outfit,” she said. “I can dress them up or down.” The brand carries this jean style in a huge variety of washes and styles. Sarah Ferkler, a sophomore accounting major, recommended any jeans from Levi’s. The brand’s jeans are classic, well-made and always on trend, she said.
Abby Goldman, a store manager at Scout & Molly’s Boutique in Bethesda, Maryland, has seen many trendy jean styles this season. “We’re kind of seeing a lot of different silhouettes,” she said. For instance, people are still buying skinny jeans, but boyfriend and mom jeans are very popular. Scout & Molly carries a number of denim brands, but Goldman recommends Flying Monkey Jeans. Their prices are lower than some other brands, hovering around $79, but are still really good quality, stretchy and comfortable, she said.
As for some of their specific styles, Goldman said their high rise button fly skinny style is popular, but also their boyfriend and mom style jeans, both of which are pretty loose and distressed. Whatever jeans you decide to buy this spring, wear them with confidence!
