Date Night In The District

Washington, DC is one of the greatest tourist attractions in the world for its culture, food and one-of-a-kind nightlife.
There have been numerous restaurants and attractions built in recent years that have made D.C. an enticing destination for a date night with your significant other.
Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, Rafael Lorente, frequently visits the District for a nice dinner with his wife.
“We used to love to go to Union Market and go to an oyster place named Rappahannock Oyster Bar,” Lorente said. “That’s a big favorite of ours.”
For senior journalism major Emily Hahn, traveling to D.C. for a date with her boyfriend is something they always look forward to.
Hahn enjoys planning dates and the scenery that the nation’s capital has to offer.
“So there’s this place by The Wharf called Kaliwa that has different curries and a coconut curry shrimp that is really good,” Hahn said.
The nation’s capital features several boardwalks and museums within walking distance of restaurants, perfect for a romantic stroll through the city.
“Nighttime at the wharf is amazing. “ Hahn said. “They have this short pier with a big swing that is really fun to look forward to.”
Experiencing the nightlife in D.C. is easy to do, with the convenience of the metro system around the DMV, which allows for people to catch the bus or train to make their way into the District.
The activities to do in D.C. are limitless, as people can walk leisurely around national landmarks, visit marquee museums and find locations to chat with others.
Grace Yarrow, a junior journalism major, enjoys traveling to D.C. with her boyfriend for their exquisite museums.
“We have been going to a lot of museums now that’s [sic] it safer to be around people,” Yarrow said. “We have been to the Smithsonian museum and it was really nice.”
The District has annually enhanced its nightlife and made its attractions more appealing to visitors.
College students and adults enjoy the restaurants and activities that Washington, D.C. brings.
