As the leaves turn and it gets colder, staying up to date with fashion trends is key. Students are constantly looking for insight into the trends for this fall and winter. Here is some insight for some warm weather trends as we head into late fall.
Shreya Barot, a junior biology major, loves flannels to stay warm.
“You can wear them in so many ways, you can wear an oversized, cropped, [with a] fuzzy jacket, and you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion,” said Barot.
Finding versatile pieces, like flannels is great for creating a staple wardrobe.
As it gets colder, Barot likes wearing mini skirts with tights for warmth. She pairs this with knee high boots and a cute top.
Her favorite stores to buy clothes for the fall season are Abercrombie and Marshalls.
Some of the key pieces in store so far are vests. When looking in Zara, H&M and Aritzia, vests are a recurring trend. These are the perfect transition as the weather gets colder, before it is time for a full jacket.
The most trending color throughout stores this season is emerald green. Whether it is pants, a crew neck or a puffer coat, green is a great way to keep your fits vibrant and trendy.
Another way to incorporate fall trends is into your game day fits. A great way to do that is to buy pieces in the color red, such as vests, beanies, and puffer coats.
Alexis Silhavy, a sophomore double criminology and criminal justice major, is excited to incorporate cold weather accessories into her game day fits.
“For colder game days I’ll be wearing lots of matching sets, vests and a red puffer. I also think colored jeans are super cool,” said Silhavy.
Other things Silhavy likes to wear in the fall time are fuzzy socks with her Ugg boots, beanies with pom poms on top and puffer jackets.
Isha Raje, a sophomore biology major, wears beanies and knit scarves to stay warm.
“These accessories are easy to throw on or add to an outfit when it gets colder,” said Raje.
Other articles of clothing that Raje will be wearing as the weather gets colder are cardigans and sweatshirts. She feels these pieces are easy to layer with vests or puffer coats as the temperature continues to drop. Some of her favorite places to shop are Nordstrom and Macy’s.
Puffers can be bought at different price points. Some less expensive stores are Old Navy and Target. Zara also has puffer jackets at a middle price point. Other stores that are more expensive include Aritzia, LuluLemon and Revolve.
As we head into late fall and winter, finding pieces to layer and add for warmth and great ways to stay trendy and warm. Whether it is vests, puffer coats or beanies these can be added to any fit for extra warmth.
