2023 has seen many fashion trends come and go, but certain staples deserve a spot on your holiday wishlist.
Many stores are currently offering holiday sales that you won’t want to miss out on, so here are some recommendations and deals to give you a head start on your shopping spree:
H&M offers a wide selection of winter sweaters, many currently discounted.
The Balloon-sleeved Sweater, a simple and chic addition to any wardrobe, is currently marked at 57 percent off. H&M also sells a stylish Turtleneck Top, now only about $10 at 33 percent off.
Sophomore marketing major Ainslie McCory is asking for a leather jacket for the holidays. “It’s warm – so nice to wear in the winter, and [it] goes well with a lot of outfits,” she said.
“I’m asking for professional clothes so that I’m prepared for student teaching next semester,” said junior elementary education major Lili Adolph, who works in and out of a classroom setting as part of her studies.
Professional and business-casual attire are beneficial for all types of students, and luckily Nordstrom offers great deals on this style.
On their website, Women’s Work Clothing, Shoes & Accessories offers a wide range of sophisticated options that would be perfectly suited for your next professional meeting or work opportunity.
A cheaper alternative to find business casual wear as well as basically any type of winter clothing you could possibly need is Zara. Its Knitwear section in particular is home to countless seasonal articles of clothing, like the Metallic Thread Knit Crop Top. This stylish top retails for about $13 and comes in silver and gold.
Adolph said she also asked for a pair of UGG boots “because they’re comfortable and warm.” UGG sells many different footwear styles, from boots to slippers to slides. Countless options are available to pair with your favorite cozy outfit.
A great dupe for UGG boots can be found at Target, in the form of the $30 Amira Suede Clog Slippers. The shoes come in four holiday-esque shades including red, gold, brown and black.
“I asked for a Djerf Avenue pajama set, Abercombie camo hoodie, Skims t-shirt, and a Bents hoodie…because they are cute and trendy and also got reviews that said they were good quality and comfortable,” junior psychology major Gabbie Castellano said.
Djerf Avenue, while a bit pricier, is known for its cute and soft loungewear. Their Go Slow Pants and Go Slow Ruffle Strap Top, specifically in shade Holiday Bow, would make the perfect holiday ask or gift.
Abercrombie offers many hoodie options, as well as cute crewnecks and jackets. Their Sherpa Shirt Jacket in particular is a winter staple, retailing at $50.
Sherpa is definitely in this season, and a less expensive alternative can be found at Hollister. The $24 Gilly Hicks Sherpa Quarter-zip, which is currently on sale, comes in white, black, brown and a cute white and light-blue winter pattern.
Skims is likely to find a way onto many people’s wishlists this year, as the Kim Kardashian-owned brand has become very popular on social media. While also typically more expensive, it is a great go-to for comfortable underwear or flattering casual outfits.
The best Skims dupes seem to come from Amazon, with a highlight being this $13 fitted long-sleeve tee that comes in tons of different colors.
The R.J. Bentley’s hoodie is also a great ask for College Park students and residents, but it’s not the only local bar with merchandise to offer. You can purchase a Cornerstone gift card for a holiday gift as well. Bars like Looney’s and Terrapin’s Turf sell apparel and other merchandise in-store.
Whether you need fashionable gift ideas for yourself or for your friends and family, these suggestions will definitely brighten up your holiday shopping list.
