What is a part of your everyday getting ready routine? Does it happen to include listening to music? If not, you may want to try it. Listening to music while making your bed, brushing your hair and brushing your teeth may actually boost your mood and help start your day off on the right foot. It also may help improve your self confidence. Remind yourself how beautiful you are inside and out while looking in the mirror.
According to a 2018 Time magazine article, music can help cheer you up and lessen depressive moods. “Music seems to “selectively activate” neurochemical systems and brain structures associated with positive mood, emotion regulation, attention and memory in ways that promote beneficial changes,” Kim Innes said in the article. She is a professor of epidemiology at West Virginia University’s School of Public Health. It all comes down to the science of it. Just make sure you listen to the right type of music that does not cause you any sadness or anger. Everyone is different, so find what calms you whether it be some light pop or hard rock and roll.
Verywell Mind shared a study that found “intentionally trying to boost moods by listening to positive music could have an impact within two weeks.” Put it on your schedule and try this study out for yourself. Start listening to uplifting music everyday for two weeks and reflect on if it helped you feel happier than normal. Here are our picks for the ultimate getting ready playlist!
