Gingham takes over gameday fashion

The only pressure more intense than winning the football game is showing up to gameday dressed in the most fashionable outfit. Each year, Maryland students come to games decked out in the trendiest, most flattering fashion of the season, and this year, the standout print is gingham. According to commerce editor Joy Montgomery from British Vogue, gingham has actually “usurped classic florals,” and taken the cake as the next most popular print!
The red and white criss-cross pattern, usually associated with rustic country style, has been “reimagined in stylish, contemporary ways,” according to Better Homes and Gardens, a lifestyle and design magazine. It is easily one of the most popular styles at Maryland this year, and many students are wearing the pattern on pants, strappy tops and even frilly skirts. The right gingham piece will elevate any look, so here’s what to wear!
One of the most popular gingham items this year are the Gingham Boxer Shorts from Edikted. These can be worn oversized, or can be rolled along the waist to appear shorter and more fitted. The safest pairing for the boxer shorts is a plain tank top or tube top, preferably in white. Since the look can appear slightly white-heavy, students can complement these shorts with red accessories to tie the look together.
