For this outfit, I wanted to do something simple but still fun. This outfit is a great representation of how putting together a fashionable outfit can be as simple as throwing on a pair of pants and a button-up. The shirt is also a great transitional piece. This is an outfit you can wear pretty much anywhere: going out with friends, running errands, maybe even to work (though I would make the outfit more suitable with slacks). It’s a very simple outfit, but the purple satin button-up adds some personality. Of course, adding fun sunglasses is a great choice too.

Fall and layering are pretty synonymous in my mind. And not-so-coincidentally, button-up shirts are a great layering piece. Layering can give your closet a new life, especially using clothes you may have forgotten about. Corset tops have been trending on and off for nearly two years now, and in this look, I was able to give a top I bought two summers ago a fresh take.

An all-black outfit is probably the easiest way to look put-together with very minimal effort, similarly to button-up shirts. An easy outfit to put together, this looks and embodies “effortlessly cool”. I chose to pair this look with a red bag for a contrasting pop.

In this outfit, I opted to use the same shirt as before, yet style it differently. The versatility of button-ups is another reason I’m a huge fan of them. Pairing this top with a silky black dress is another way to elevate the outfit, while also dressing more appropriately for the changing weather. And once again, fall is all about layering. I’m a big fan of leather jackets, which also look great with a button-up underneath.
Through these looks, the flexibility, simplicity, and fashionable potential for button-ups is on display. Whether the outfit has multiple layers or just a shirt and pants, even just one shirt holds plenty of potential outfits for the fall.
